The second Government Decree (No. 2022/2015) on cultivating the oeuvre of Imre Makovecz has been issued. The decree names the specific responsibilities of cultivating the oeuvre based on the surveys carried out as per the first decree.

Following an unsuccessful tendering process for a Makovecz sculpture, the town of Makó gladly accepted Gábor Mezei’s proposal (also supported by the Makovecz family) to create a monument based on an earlier Imre Makovecz drawing. Sculptor László Péterfi will make the monument.

2nd prize at the 2014 FIABCI awards.

The Hagymatikum Bath and Spa of Makó took the 2nd prize in the recreation and wellness category at the 2014 FIABCI (International Real Estate Federation) awards. Mayor Péter Buzás received the prize at the Luxembourg award ceremony.

Missing chapters

The Foundation assigned Eszter Götz as editor for the missing 2001-2011 chapter of the Makovecz oeuvre book. The related government decree declared that the oeuvre book’s release as a most urgent item. Completion of editorial work is expected by the autumn of 2014.

Pancho Arena completed in Felcsút. Imre Makovecz prepared the first design sketches of the stadium while the final version is Tamás Dobrosi’s work. A bust of Imre Makovecz by the stadium’s main entrance was initiated at the opening ceremony. The promenade behind the stadium already bore Makovecz’s name.

Ecumenical Chapel of Rebirth at Devecser consecrated

On the second anniversary of the red sludge disaster, the Ecumenical Chapel designed by Imre Makovecz was consecrated. A torch lit procession was also held in remembrance of the victims. The newly built eco housing estate where the chapel sits is named Makovecz park; the nearby community space is called the Máltai kert (Maltese garden).
