Greek Catholic church, version 2, Csenger

The structure of Greek Catholic churches is bound by strict design rules: the floor plan must be a square in line with the four elements; A cupola must be raised over each, held together by four spandrels. Imre Makovecz’s design strives to comply with these rules, except it only envisages one tower. The Greek Catholic church was flexible about that. The implemented church building is a result of Vicar Simicsku’s relentless efforts.

The study plans and building permit plans for the first version of the church were elaborated by Erzsébet Várlaki. The second and final version was prepared in 1999.
