The Makovecz Center and Archives in Budapest was originally built as a family house. Imre Makovecz built it for himself and his wife. He died before he could move in, so the building awaiting its fate can now finally fill its position by hosting not his physical entity, but his intellectual grandeur.
The workroom of Imre Makovecz has been re-enacted in the house and a small exhibition space was also created, the content of which will be regularly updated. The complete life’s work will be placed in the house: plans, drawings, writings, photographs – thus creating the Makovecz Archives suitable for research purposes as well.
The private opening ceremony of the Center took place on November 20.
The House is open to the public from January 8, 2018 and can be visited for free of charge on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 2 pm to 5 pm at Budapest XII. district, Városkúti út 2.
The archive will be opened after the complete life’s work is placed in the house in categorized form. You will be notified about the exact date on our website and in the press.
We are waiting you with regular events from the beginning of 2018, which will be shared with the wide public on every forum at our disposal:
