Before the change of the political system in Hungary [in 1989], the British Royal Family wished to mark the opening with a three-month exhibition. After lengthy negotiations, they invited Imre Makovecz to participate in the event.

The idea was to have the pavilion [designed by Imre Makovecz] there for three months. I planned it in a way that it could be disassembled and then moved to the Welsh-English border, like a kind of permanent meeting place and culture house for a Welsh community that deals with traditional artisan trades.

The building itself is a small mound, split into two longitudinally. The ground plan is elliptic; the building is chopped off at each end. At the entrance, you see an excerpt from the facade of Sir John Soane’s house, while on the other side there is a winged figure. The building interior carries several architectural details of Soane buildings.
