Bak, Faluház

A kis zalai (nyugat-magyarországi) falu többcélú kultúrháza (előadóterem, könyvtár, klubszobák) madár alaprajzú és deszkafedése is madárszárnyhoz hasonló. Ez a ház előtt álló első világháborús hősi emlékműről az ötvenes években levert turulmadárra, a magyarokat megtestesítő ősi szimbolikus állatra emlékeztet.

Bak, Village Community Centre,

This small multi-functional cultural institute planned for a small village in Western Hungary, contains a lecture hall, a library and club rooms. Its ground plan has a birdlike form, a feeling enhanced by the plank siding covering the building in a way that resembles bird wings. This was done in imitation of the mythical turul bird, an ancient, animalistic symbol representing the embodiment of the Hungarians. A turul monument erected in memory of those fallen in World War I-destroyed in the 1950’s-stood in front of the new house.
